Researching Company Background and Financials
There are many sources for information on companies. It is best to check as many places as possible, to get the best range of up-to-date information. A good place to start is a company's web page. Remember - company-created information will contain bias. To create a well-rounded report be sure to inlude information from credible business information providers. Start with the resources listed below.
- ReferenceUSA - RefUSA is an online business directory that provides a complete and up-to-date summary of a company's vital statistics.
- Hoover's Online - Hoover's is a great place to start your research. Simply search your company name or ticker symbol for detailed fact sheets with company descriptions, key financials, executive biographies, news and more.
- Business and Company Resource Center - B.C.R.C. covers public, private, U.S. and international companies. It includes complete company histories, rankings, investment reports, financials, links to articles from business journals and industry newsletters.
** Search Tip - Use the Advanced Search function to select Rankings as your Content Area if you are searching for market share. To find industry information select Industry off the main menu to search by SIC/NAICS code or by keyword.
