Are you looking for a way to get started on your research? Select from the
specific topics below. General Biology sources and web sites are listed first
followed by web sites and indexes in specific areas. If you need help in finding
what you are looking for please e-mail Leslee
Shell, Biology/ Nursing Librarian or call, 543-8566. Librarians at the Reference
Desk are also available for assistance.
Books in the biological sciences are found primarily in the QL (Zoology), QH
(Biology), QP (Physiology), S (Agriculture, Natural History, Conservation) and
R (Medicine) call number areas of the third floor of the West Library. To find
a book on a particular subject, search the keyword
in the ASU Libraries Catalog. For example, to find books about birds in Arizona
click on Keyword then enter "birds Arizona." If an
item is in our collection, the record will say WEST STACKS
and will give the call number. You may request books available at the Science
Library through document
delivery.

Biological
Abstracts (BIOSIS Previews)
Citations and abstracts from life sciences journals worldwide, covering biology,
botany, zoology, microbiology, clinical and experimental medicine and more.
General
Science Full Text
Provides access to citations and abstracts in the biological, environmental,
medical and physical sciences and related subjects such as botany and ecology.
Medline
Citations and abstracts to all aspects of the health sciences including microbiology,
toxicology, nutition and environmental health.
Science
Direct
"ScienceDirect is the world's largest electronic collection of science, technology and medical full-text and bibliographic information." It contains many full-text articles.
Web of Science (Science Citation Index)
The Web of Science includes Science Citation Index which covers approximately 3500 scientific and technical journals. The database allows citation searching to see who has cited specific references.
Electronic journals usually provide the full text of an article. You may search for both print and electronic journals at Journal Title Lookup.
