ENG 102 PAWS: Library Instruction

Students in the 102 PAWS course have a unique library assignment to "discover which of our Arizona Desert species pose the highest risk of extinction, and why(Cisler, 2007). Two of the course projects require library research to be successful.  They are:

Project 3: Research the Mexican Grey Wolf (canis lupus baileyi)

Project 4: Research an Arizona endangered or threatened species

  • Learning Objectives
    • Locate overview information to decide on a topic statement
    • Locate science databases on the library web page
    • Develop a search strategy
    • Import references from at least two library databases into RefWorks

  • This is a free database that is like a Google for scientists. Use this searchable web database to get an overview of a topic, see how much materials is available, and to locate all types of documents, includuding conferences, scientists' homepages, and dissertations.

RefWorks is free for ASU students and faculty and allows you to create your own personal database.  You can import records and create bibliographies quickly using the features of RefWorks.
