To qualify, students must be registered with the Disability Resource Center (DRC). If eligible for this service the DRC will issue a letter that must be shown at the time of the request for assistance.
Journal retrieval
Students will:
- Work with appropriate Library staff to locate citation information, if they do not already have the journal title, call number, volume number and pages, for each item they want copied.
- Submit their requests -- assistance with filling out forms will be provided by staff at the Information or Circulation Desks if needed.
Circulation staff will:
- Pull journals and make copies at a charge of 10 cents per page.
- Notify students when copies are ready to pickup at the Circulation Desk.
Book retrieval
Students will:
- Work with appropriate Library staff to locate citation information, if they do not already have call number and title for items they want retrieved.
- Take call numbers and titles for items they want retrieved to the Circulation Desk.
- Immediate service is contingent upon staff availability so please plan ahead. Books can be requested online for next day retrieval. Instructions are available on the library's web site at http://library.west.asu.edu/services/borrowing/request.html
Circulation staff will:
- Pull books from stacks and place on the hold shelf for pick up.
Reference and Research Assistance
Students will:
- Obtain training on the use of adaptive programs and equipment operation through DRC.
- Make arrangements for a reader/assistant to accompany them to the library for any reading aid with adaptive programs or equipment use they may need through the DRC
Reference Staff will:
- Assist students with their research, providing help with database selection, search strategies, topic selection, journal and book citation and location information. NOTE: Reference staff are not trained in operating adaptive programs; it is the responsibility of students to get training on adaptive programs from the DRC.
Adaptive Equipment in the Library
The adaptive technology equipment is available for use by community members, with the understanding that priority is given to ASU-affiliated users.

**Guest login for the AT station is available through the Reference Desk staff.
The Access@West Committee http://www.west.asu.edu/sa/drc/seat/about.htm is responsible for adaptive equipment and software maintenance in the library.
