Books owned by ASU Libraries

Students, Faculty and staff may request books through the ASU Libraries Catalog.

Registered Community Borrowers may use the Renew/Request Materials Form or inquire at the Circulation Desk.

  • Fletcher Library pulls books from our collection for pickup at Fletcher Library, but we do not deliver materials to campus offices.
  • The majority of items are available for pickup at the Circulation Desk within 3 working days.
  • Requesting an eligible item that is checked out is referred to as a Recall.  The item is recalled from the current borrower and could take considerably longer to receive - up to 15 days.

To request books owned by ASU Libraries:

  • Search for the item/s you want.
  • Click on the title of the book you wish to request.
  • Click the request button.
  • Depending on your browser settings you may have to accept the security certificate.
  • Authenticate with your ASURite ID and password.
  • Choose pick up location, and click the submit button button.
  • If there are multiple entries for a single title, mark the one you want and click "REQUEST SELECTED ITEM."
    • The message "Your request for [TITLE] was successful." verifies that your request was sent.

How will I be notified?

  • By e-mail if your library record includes your e-mail address.
  • By campus mail if your library record does not include your e-mail address and you work for ASU.
  • By US mail if you library record does not include your e-mail address and you do not work for ASU.
  • Track status of requested item.  Items that have arrived will have a status of "Ready. Must pickup by mm/dd/yyyy".
  • Items that are not picked up by the date noted are returned to the shelves of the owning library.

Videos/DVDs owned by ASU Libraries

ASU faculty, students and staff may request videos and DVDs through the ASU Libraries Catalog.  Follow the instructions for Books owned by ASU. Registered Community Borrowers may use the Renew/Request Materials Form or inquire at the Circulation Desk.

How will you be notified?

  • Notification is by e-mail only
    • Community Borrowers - contact us at westlibrarycirc@asu.edu with a request to add your email address to your account.
  • Videos are held for 3 days, then returned to the shelves of the owning library.

ASU faculty, students and staff who need a video or DVD on a specific date in the future should use Media Booking.

For the video loan policy, see Borrowing Media.

    • If West does not own it, but it is available through another ASU Library in paper or fiche you should:
      • Click the Request a Journal Article button
      • Input the citation information
  • Documents are posted to your ILLiad account in PDF format.
  • You are notified by e-mail when they are ready.
  • Track and retrieve requests from the Review Requests section after logging in.
  • Requests for items that are owned at West will be returned to you via e-mail from ILLiad.
