Fletcher Library at the West Campus
Loan Policy for Non-ASU Borrowers / Community Card Holders
Arizona residents not affiliated with ASU may become registered borrowers.
Proof of residency and age is required. See eligibility
criteria and associated charges.
Basic Information
- Registration does not give you off-campus access to resources other than the ASU
Online Catalog.
- You cannot perform any action (request materials, access your account, renew online) that requires authentication to the online system.
- Requests can be made through the Request/Renew Catalog Items page - see below.
- 14 day loan on most items.
- Limit of fifteen (15) items total checked out on your account at any one time.
- Limit of two (2) renewals per item.
- Call 602-543-8580 regularly to check your account for overdues, recalls, etc.
- Photo ID must be presented for each transaction.
- Borrowing privileges are denied if you have unpaid fines/fees.
- Children's Literature (Curriculum) books can not be checked out.
- Videos/DVDs generally cannot be booked. See http://library.west.asu.edu/collections/media/borrowmedia.html
- Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately. Call 602/543-8546.
- Other ASU Libraries may have different policies. Check with the specific library.
Renewals
A list of items currently checked out to you can be obtained by emailing westlibrarycirc@asu.edu or asking at the Circulation Desk.
- Use the Request/Renew Catalog Items form
- Bring the item/s to the Circulation Desk in the library. Renewals will not be done at the desk unless you have the items with you.
- Call Phone
Renewal at 480-965-2595.
- Recalls, reserves, and media are not renewable.
Overdue/Billables
- Overdue reminders are sent as a courtesy and failure to receive one, for whatever reason, does not remove your responsibility for meeting each due date or paying subsequent fines.
- Most items have a thirty (30) day grace period.
- A $10.00 fine plus replacement fee is charged for items not returned or renewed within the grace period.
- Recalls, videos, and reserves do not have a grace period.
- Recall fines: $10.00 if not returned by recall due date.
- Video fines: $2.00 per day. Maximum fine $20.00.
- The replacement fee is canceled if/when the item is returned undamaged.
Recalls
- Item/s checked out to you have been requested by another borrower. Due date will be 15 days from the date the recall was placed.
- A $10.00 Recall Billing fee plus the replacement cost is charged for items not returned by
the Recall Due Date.
- The replacement cost is canceled if and when the item is returned undamaged.
- Recall fines are strictly enforced.
Notices
- Types of notices:
- Pre-overdue: sent 3 days prior to due date. E-mail only.
- Overdue: two sent - at least 5 days after due date and again at 17 days after due date.
- Recall: see above.
- Holds Pick-up: items you requested are ready for picked-up.
- Holds Cancellation: items you requested are not available.
- All notices can be sent to your e-mail and e-mail notices replace paper notices.
- You can add or change your e-mail address anytime. Call 602-543-8580 or stop by the Circulation Desk.
