Fletcher Library at the West Campus
Strategic Plan
Fiscal Year: 2004-2008
INTRODUCTION
A number of environmental issues affect all of our systems and drive our strategic
efforts to serve our constituents. Those factors bearing the strongest influence
are reflected in four goals by which we will attempt to affect student preparedness,
serve the campus' research agenda, and strengthen the Library as a center supporting
learning and community.
Information competencies
instruction and outcomes assessment will continue to be core services as we
provide instruction to a growing student body with varying degrees of preparation
for academic work. Library users will continue to have high expectations for
timely research assistance and easy access to information. Our collections will
grow to meet the needs of new and expanding academic and research programs.
In order to support an
increasingly growing and diverse user population, as well as new programs, librarians
and staff will require continuous learning and skill building and will be called
to work on more complex tasks in a broad range of work assignments. Because
the costs and organizational impact of technology are ongoing realities, our
investment in development, equipment, software, and staff will continue to be
a high priority.
