Internship Opportunities: ASU Undergraduate Students
Not sure what you want to do after graduation? Would you like to see what librarianship is like and how a university library operates? Then consider an internship at the Fletcher Library!
The employment outlook for librarians in the future is bright, and librarianship is a specialized professional field requiring only a master's degree. Libraries and librarians have important roles in society and education, and a librarian's job does not match the traditional stereotypes. Librarians are highly trained researchers and information organizers, skills that can be valuable in many careers and organizations. Moreover, librarianship is compatible with any academic interest.
As an intern you will have the opportunity to work with professional librarians and library staff in a variety of areas and projects, all at the professional level. For example, the Fletcher Library has Reference internships in which you would receive training with the library's research resources and services and eventually assist at the Reference Desk. Other internship possibilities include Web site and page development, collection development projects or assistance with instruction. Undergraduate interns also have the opportunity to participate in an assortment of unit meetings and project teams, as appropriate.
